An very wealthy naturalist, Alex explored the extremely dangerous lands of South and Central America in the 18th century. His scientific discoveries were hailed around the world. When he settled back in Germany, he dedicated his fortune and efforts to helping develop the arts and sciences. He was a patron of Rossini, Mendelssohn and Berlioz. This pen features a sextant on the 18k gold nib, and sterling silver trim including native designs from the Americas set in black grenadille wood from S. America.
