Sacre bleu! We just obtained this lovely, hand-painted ceramic inkwell that was made in France. We have no idea who painted it or how old it actually is. Click the headline for the only clue we have to go on. Nevertheless, it is a very nice orange base color with a hint of brown that is seemingly painted in gold leaf with a floral design. The inkwell reservoir is small, maybe the size of 2 thimbles, holding maybe 3 or 4 thimbles full of ink. The porcelain or ceramic is in good condition, but you can see some places, especially around where the lid rests, where the paint has worn off.
