Remember the old ads for pork: The other white meat. This vintage pen can be known as the other Sheaffer Clipper. Technically, this is the Wasp "The Clipper." It comes with a fully restored skinny rod "Vacuum Filler." Wasp was a sub-brand of Sheaffer. It's imprint listing Ft. Madison, Iowa, as a home base gives it away. The vacuum filler was Sheaffer's response to the Parker Vacumatic with an empty barrel filling system. It's a rather ingenious feat of engineering. The single downstroke vacuum pump is very effective when it works. Originally designed to last forever, it turned out that forever didn't last very long. Luckily, this one has been fully restored and works very smoothly. The design looks as if the computer age met art deco. Its 14k gold nib writes a firm extra-fine line. You might need to use a touch more pressure than normal to keep it flowing. 13cm capped.
