Vintage Pens: Parker 51 Special
Vintage Pens: 3375 Parker 51 Special
Seeking a way to get a Parker 51 in every pocket in American, Parker created the slightly lower-priced Parker 51 Special. This pen was exactly the same as the 51 in all ways except that it had a steel nib. You can ask any 10 pen collectors and get a different answer, but many feel that the steel nibbed version wrote better than the ubiquitous extra -fine and fine point gold 51 nibs. We'll vouch for this one having a smooth medium nib. Its original "pli-glass" ink sac is still in great working order. Its only major flaw is heavy scratching on the tail from cap posting.
