Vintage Pens: Conklin Glider
Vintage Pens: 3693 Conklin Glider
It looks as if it came out of the movie "The Matrix," but this classic Conklin Glider was made in the early 1940s. ALSO, it was made in Chicago! Conklin was originally made in Toledo for nearly half a century, but toward the end of the company's first life, it moved to the Windy City. We restored the pen with a new ink sac. There are no cracks, but the pen has some wear. Most notable is that nearly all of the gold plating is missing. Happily, the "Cushion Point" nib is made of 14kt gold. It writes a semi-flex line from extra-fine to a shade bigger than 1mm. However, it will need a little training and has a hint of feedback. 13.3cm capped.
