Parker 61 fountain pens strike me as having the last great original filling system. At around the same time cartridge pens became a thing in the late 1950s, Parker unveiled its capillary filler for the 61. A Teflon-coated tube magically sucks ink into the pen when upside down in ink. No mess, no wipe down. Gravity then feeds the ink to the nib in a normal writing position. It was ingenius. The only drawback is it is very difficult to change colors in. We flushed this pen's filler clean, but we recommend picking a simple black or blue ink for this pen (no Noodler's or Private Reserve or India Ink) and sticking with it. The pen was a user, but there are no dents and only minor wear. Its 14k gold nib writes an amazingly smooth medium line. 13.4cm capped.
