Vintage Pens: Parker 51

Vintage Pens: 4448 Parker 51
Era: 1940-1949   Fountain Pen Nib Size: XF
Price: $125.00
Parker 51 fountain pens were so forward thinking that Parker advertised them, upon their release in 1941, as being 10 years ahead of their time. A hooded nib with an extensive inkfeed that helped to prevent drying out was a big step forward, as was its sleek modern design. We purchased this one from a dedicated collector who had recently installed a new diaphragm. It works great, has a tail cap that is 100% flush with the barrel and it has a great, deep barrel imprint with a first quarter 1946 date code. It has a great lustraloy cap with a golden pocket clip with minimal wear. Only the hooded cowling shows any real trace of wear where the cap rubs against it. Its 14k gold nib writes a firm, wet extra-fine line with a little feedback. 13.8cm capped.
