Vintage Pens: Montblanc Solid Gold Overlay

To heck with the modern Montblanc limited editions series pens. Check out this Montblanc Solid Gold Overlay fountain pen. We are not sure what the model name or number for this pen. We have found similar pens from two different sources that list these pens being privately custom made at a jewelry shop. One source said that shop was called Maenner in Stuttgart ,and that they did overlays for Pelikan, too. We have yet to independently verify this. A mark visible on the bottom of the cap says “585,” indicating the entire overlay is solid 14k gold. The pen fills well, and we are reasonably certain the previous owner had it recorked or otherwise updated by expert technician Osman Sumer. There are a couple of minor imperfections to the finish of the pen, but no egregious dents or scratches. No cracks. You will write a very nice semi-flex line that goes from fine to a shade more than 1mm wide with this Montblanc Solid Gold Overlay ‘s 14k gold nib. 12.3cm capped.
