Parker

George Safford Parker started the Parker Pen Company in 1888. He and later generations at his company revolutionized the advancement of writing instruments. Parker's first major innovation was what became called the "Lucky Curve" inkfeed, a device that both fed ink to the nib and helped prevent messes when the pen was stored nib up and capped in a pocket. The company's best loved pens include the Parker Duofold, Parker Vacumatic, Parker 51 and Parker Jotter. Not only are its vintage pens among the most heavily collected, the Parker Pen Co. is still alive and well today.

Vintage Pens: 6022: Parker: 33
Here's a rare treasure from way back in 1906! We love the gold-filled filigree on this Parker 33. This pen clearly did not experience the 1906 earthquake that destroyed San Francisco. However, the top of the cap has some sizable spots of brassing from wear. There's a little brassing near the tail, too. We polished them out, but it won't stay gleaming without continued polishing. Click the headline for a close-up of the original 14k gold nib. We love the old-timey "Lucky Curve" script. There are no engravings on the initial plate of the filigree. Only slight chocolate hazing of the black hard rubber. No cracks. The section unscrews easily. You will write an extra-fine to nearly 2mm wide line with its flexible nib. It isn't a wet noodle. 13.9cm capped.
Pre-Owned Pens: 6069 Parker Duofold Centennial
Filling Mechanism: Cartridge/Converter
Era: 1980-present   Fountain Pen Nib Size: M
Price: $399.99
Pre-Owned Pens: 6069: Parker: Duofold Centennial
Parker was rather genius for resurrecting its classic Duofold design for a modern luxury pen. Our Parker Duofold Centennial in burgundy is a handsome classic. We love the way the sparkly acrylic burgundy undulates under a light as your rotate the cap or barrel. Our pre-owned luxury pen comes with its original box and papers. There's a Parker converter in it, too. You will write a nice medium line with its two-tone 18k gold nib. No monogram or significant wear. 13.5cm capped.
Vintage Pens: 6120 Parker Thrift Time
Filling Mechanism: Button Filler
Era: 1930-1939   Fountain Pen Nib Size: M
Price: $149.99
Vintage Pens: 6120: Parker: Thrift Time
Easily mistaken for a Parker Challenger Deluxe, this appears to be a large Parker Thrift Time pen...or possibly another Depression era vintage pen from Parker. We restored it with a new ink ink sac. We find it to be a really handsome pen with some wear from use back in the day. No cracks but heavy brassing on the pocket clip. You will write a nice, wet medium line with some feedback using its 14k gold nib. These pens helped sustain Parker during the Great Depression when most people couldn't afford their premium Vacumatics. Click the headline for close-ups. 12.9cm capped.
Vintage Pens: 6119 Parker Vacumatic
Filling Mechanism: Vacuum Filler
Era: 1940-1949   Fountain Pen Nib Size: M
Price: $199.99
Vintage Pens: 6119: Parker: Vacumatic
Perfectly plated two-tone 14k gold arrow nibs on Parker Vacumatics are difficult to find. Click the headline to witness a really beautiful nib up close. You'll write a wet medium line with a little feedback. Our Parker Vacumatic Major is a nice pen in its entirety. Made in the third quarter of 1942, who knows what action this vintage pen might have seen. Yet, we suspect it mostly saw a well protected desk given its lack of cracks or deep scratches. Just some general light wear from use. It was engraved with the name John D. Parks. Decent barrel clarity. It was recently restored before we obtained it. It comes with a 1947 version of the pencil that comes preloaded with a 1.1mm lead. It is a little more worn. Pen measures 13.5cm capped.
Vintage Pens: 5311 Parker Vacumatic
Filling Mechanism: Vacuum Filler
Era: 1940-1949   Fountain Pen Nib Size: XF
Price: $149.99
Vintage Pens: 5311: Parker: Vacumatic
We love finding Parker Vacumatics that are still in close-to-new condition. This vintage pen still has a light-yellow barrel clarity! It is no longer that green-yellow from right off the line, but it is still pretty good. No cracks, minimal--if any--brassing. We restored this pen with a new diaphragm. The biggest "flaw" is that its pocket clip spins, even though it is securely on the pen. The blue diamond was Parker's indicator that this pen was guaranteed for the life of its first owner. You will write an extra-fine line with its 14k gold nib. There is a little feedback, but this is a pretty good XF writer. Click the headline for close-ups. 12.8cm capped.
Vintage Pens: 5924 Parker Lady Duofold
Filling Mechanism: Button Filler
Era: 1930-1939   Fountain Pen Nib Size: F
Price: $75.00
Vintage Pens: 5924: Parker: Lady Duofold
Even people who aren't into lady's pens have to shout when they see this Parker Duofold. A streamlined model, it still looks really sharp today in its orange permanite cap and barrel with reblackened hard-rubber end caps. Only the tassie shows brassing. Overall, the pen does show some wear from use, annnnd there is a crack in the barrel threads. However, if you write with a light hand, it should be okay. We restored this pen with a new ink sac, button and pressure bar. It still has its Christmas-tree inkfeed. You will write a fine line with a little feedback using its 14k gold nib. 11.8cm capped.
Pre-Owned Pens: 5918 Parker Sonnet
Filling Mechanism: Cartridge/Converter
Era: 1980-present   Fountain Pen Nib Size: B
Price: $99.99
Pre-Owned Pens: 5918: Parker: Sonnet
It is nice to find a Parker Sonnet with an 18k gold nib. We think most of them are plated steel these days. That would seem to date this pre-owned pen a little. Solidly built, this pen shows a some wear in places, but it is in great shape. It comes with a Parker converter, but it also can use Parker cartridges. Click the headline for close-ups. You will write a smooth broad line when you find the sweet spot. This pen also squeaks a little as it writes and can get a little scratchy outside of its sweet spot. 13.4cm capped.
Vintage Pens: 5909 Parker 21
Filling Mechanism: Aerometric Filler
Era: 1950-1959   Fountain Pen Nib Size: M
Price: $29.99
Vintage Pens: 5909: Parker: 21
Cashing in on the enormous success of its Parker 51, Parker decided to create a more affordable version of the pen to reach even more customers. This pen is the Parker 21. One of the biggest differences between them is that the 21 has a steel nib, and the 51 has a gold nib. Our vintage pen is in good working order, complete with a working original pli-glass ink sac. Its nib is more of a fine-medium that has a little feedback at the tops and bottoms of letters. You should be able to see a big crack in the barrel where it threads to the section. Don't grip it too hard or use to much pressure, as you will get it to wiggle in your hand a bit. Click the headline for a close-up. 13.4cm capped.
