Pencil: 4838 Wahl-Eversharp Half Coronet
Among the most spectacular art deco writing instruments of the 1930s are the Wahl-Eversharp Coronet and Half Coronets. Our Eversharp Half Coronet pencil looks a little Hollywood with a film strip pattern on the gold-filled top half. It is just as glamorous without any dents, cracks or scratches. The click-lead-advance mechanism works well and has a 1.1mm lead loaded in it. Pull up the clicker to reveal a hardened eraser and the chamber for spare leads. Barrel imprint reads on 3 lines "Genuine / Eversharp / Made in USA". Possible sliver of brassing at the very tip of the nose cone. 13cm capped.
Pencil: 4836 Wahl-Eversharp Doric
Art Deco is in full bloom with this stunning Eversharp Doric pencil. Sleek black celluloid cut into 10 sides with gold-plated trim makes for a very handsome pencil. It certainly classes up a desk and makes doing crossword puzzles positively seductive. You'll fine a little wear if you look, but it looks pretty remarkable for its age. This vintage pencil is in good working order and uses 1.1mm lead. There are spare leads in the tail, under a hardened eraser. 13.1cm capped.
Vintage Pens: 4832 Wahl-Eversharp Skyline
Filling Mechanism: Lever Filler
Fountain Pen Nib Size: B
For an experience to kill for, take a closer look at this Wahl-Eversharp Skyline executive. Yes, it is cosmetically flawed, but, my-oh-my that buttery smooth nib! You'll not write but gush a wonderful broad line with its 14k gold nib. We restored this vintage pen with a new ink sac. The barrel shows some of the usual wear, but it is the cap you need to look at more closely. The celluloid is changing color and getting clearer. The topper is on tightly. There's some brassing on the clip assembly. Everything seems solid for now. As such, this is a bargain with a spectacular nib. 13.4cm capped.
Vintage Pens: 4795 Wahl-Eversharp Decoband Set
Filling Mechanism: Ballpoint
Fountain Pen Nib Size: BB
In need of a good home, our Wahl-Eversharp Decoband set is a fascinating study of contrasts. Click the headline for close-ups. On one hand, it has pretty good original black-and-pearl coloring on the fountain pen. Only a little discoloration. On the other hand, you can see a nasty chip missing from the barrel threads and another one missing from the black tail end-cap (not in the photo). The pencil works, and its color is perfect. (It might also be an Equipoise pencil). However, there is brassing on the pocket clip and corrosion on the seal and top band of the pencil. The fountain pen is fully restored with a new ink sac. No cracks or deep scratches mar the pen, but it has heavy brassing on the clip and cap band. This pen is still ready to write, as it comes with a sensationally buttery smooth broad to double broad 14k gold nib! Pen measures 13.4cm capped.
Pre-Owned Pens: 4778 Wahl-Eversharp Skyline
Filling Mechanism: Cartridge/Converter
Fountain Pen Nib Size: M
We were so excited to see the Wahl-Eversharp Skyline brought back to life in the early 2000s. The resurrected Wahl-Eversharp company updated the best-selling pen of the 1940s with a clever converter insert. The company also catered to the trend in demonstrator pens with this see-through orange design. Its cap is plated silver. Click the headline for close-ups. You will write a wet medium line with its smooth 18k gold nib. This pen has seen a little use, and there is only minimal wear. Also remarkable is that it is almost as light in the hand as the original pens! 13.5cm capped.
Pencil: 4660 Wahl-Eversharp Woodgrain
Can a vintage pencil get a more iconic and classic look than this orange hard rubber Wahl-Eversharp with a woodgrain pattern? This pencil is in close to mint condition. No scratches or blemishes that we can see. It works beautifully, advancing a 1.1mm lead. We hear spare leads in it, but we aren't sure how to access them. The clip and topper are gold-filled, but the nose cone is a silver-steel color. Leads advance but don't retract unless you push it back in. 13.1cm capped.
Pencil: 4589 Wahl-Eversharp Orange Hard Rubber
Filling Mechanism: Pencil
We can't only focus on pens. Give a vintage pencil a try like this classic "red" hard rubber Wahl-Eversharp pencil. A great piece from the 1920s, it remains in good working order. You just twist the tail to advance a 1.1mm lead. As you might expect from a 100-year-old pencil it has some surface wear from use, a little staining and some brassing on the gold-plated clip. You should be able to see all of it in the photo. It comes loaded with a 1.1mm lead, but there are no spares in the tail. Be aware these early pencils only pushed the lead forward. To retract the lead, you need to twist the tail the other way and then push the nib in. 13.4cm.
Vintage Pens: 4155 Wahl-Eversharp Desk Pen Set
Filling Mechanism: Lever Filler
Fountain Pen Nib Size: M
A brace of woodgrain Wahl desk pens is ideal for the person with the rare 2-pen desk base that is missing its pens. We restored each with a new ink sac, and we are stunned at how minimal their wear is. No cracks, no chips, no scratches! The gold-plated trim rings and levers have some corrosion or gunk or brassing that won't polish out for us. Click their headline for a closer look at the whole pens and the nibs. The more vibrant, front desk pen comes with a 14k gold "Wahl Signature Pen" nib that writes a fine-medium line nicely with a little feedback. The duller-finished back pen sports a "Wahl 6 14k" nib that writes a blissfully smooth wet medium-broad line. The back pen measures 22cm and the front pen measures 21.8cm.
