Vintage Pens: Esterbrook LJ

America learned to write with Esterbrook. In the 1950s, Esterbrook LJ pens, such as this, were often required writing instruments in high school, journalism school and many short-hand schools. Our vintage pen is in great shape. No cracks, deep scratches or bite marks mar this pen. We restored it with a new ink sac. It comes with an upgraded steel 2556 nib. These nibs were advertised as “fine writing” nibs. You will write what we think of as a dry, extra-fine line. It isn’t buttery smooth, but it isn’t all that scratchy, either. Esterbrook LJ means this is the “long” slender version of the Esterbrook J-model pen line. 12.9cm capped.
