Twist the tail cap to advance the .5mm lead. It also comes with a hardened eraser and a couple of spare leads. There is a large dent near where you might grip this pencil. We try to show it in the photo. All you can really see is a bit of exposed brass. BUT, in real life, it is much more noticeable. Nevertheless, a fun preowned pencil for daily writing.
