Description
Here’s a unique Eagle Prestige pen from what we think is the 1930s…but could be the ’40s. Why is it uncommon? It has a spoon-filler and a nice big #6 14k gold nib, although the plastics it uses seem to be of a lesser quality compared rival companies of that era. We restored this vintage pen with a new ink sac. You might call it a bulb. It is attached to a glass cartridge that seems permanently attached to the section. You fill the pen by toggling the little spoon under the blind cap. This flattens the rubber bulb and helps draw ink into the pen. The barrel is imprinted as “The Insulated Pen.” We wonder if the engineers at Eagle looked at it as a chance to prove some concepts. There are brass-reinforced breather holes in the side of the barrel. Was this to allow body heat to more easily escape the inside of the barrel to reduce pressure fluctuations on the rubber bulb? The pen also has a long breather tube. Our Eagle Prestige is a very handsome and intriguing pen. You will write a nice fine line with maybe a little feedback. 13.2cm capped.
