Vintage Pens: Montblanc 254

Montblanc was coming back strong in the 1950s, after rebuilding from the fallout of WWII. The Montblanc 254 was available between the mid-1950s and early 1960s. Its biggest weakness was that the company was using a more brittle plastic back then. That said, check the photos closely. We couldn’t see the hairline crack in the section near the nib until we magnified it for the photo. Likewise, not even our camera could pick up two really tiny cracks in the cap just above the cap bands. This pen can definitely get your fingers inky. BUT, our Montblanc 254 also comes with a factory Oblique Broad nib made of 14k gold. It is an uncommon nib. Plus, the piston filler still works well. We hope our price reflects both the good and the bad with this pen. It can be great for someone with a love of unique nibs and a high tolerance for inky fingers. 13.2cm capped.
