Sprung nib

Also written: sprung

A sprung nib is one that has been bent by someone writing with it using too much pressure. If the nib was originally a semi-flex or flexible nib, it will likely never write again once it has been sprung. If it is a standard fine or medium-point nib, sometimes it can be restored to a writing condition. It might never write and feel as it once did, though. Plus, a restored sprung nib is much weaker along the line where it was bent. So it will be easier to “spring” it a second time.
