Sweet Spot

Vintage nibs, in particular, were used for years by their original owners. The more the original owner wrote with the pen, the more the soft gold nib would conform to where that writer preferred to hold the pen at various angles. That pen would subsequently feel fantastic to write with for that person. When a new person buys that pen and begins to use it, the new owner’s preferred writing angles might not be where the nib was trained to write best. That best writing position of often called the “sweet spot.” The new owner must either find the sweet spot and write from that position or hire a nibsmith to refocus the sweet spot to the new owner’s hand.
