Description
Every vintage camera fan needs a Leica IIIC rangefinder camera. The Leica brand is legendary for exceptional quality and innovation. The III series cameras brought 35mm photography into the forefront of popular and professional photography. Its famous screw-mount lenses were the top of the line and remain competitive in quality with modern lenses. Another fun aspect of these cameras is their gadgetry. There are dozens of add-ons you can find to do many different things with the Leica IIIC. Our Leica IIIC has been serviced, cleaned, lubed and adjusted. It comes with an original leather camera case, a leather neck strap and a viewfinder that we think is called the VIOOH. Our viewfinder helps you frame for the following Leica lenses 35mm, 50mm, 85mm, 90mm and 135mm. Our camera also comes with a 50mm Summitar collapsible lens. All of our sample photos were taken with this Leica IIIC and the Summitar lens. The lens has an aperture range of f2 to f16. The shutter speed ranges from 1/500th of a second to 1 second and a B/bokah setting. It also comes with an original film-uptake spool. Cosmetically, you can see cuts in the black leather and brassing on parts of the metal body. No dents and the structural integrity is excellent. We believe the camera and lens were made circa 1947. As color film was still quite a new thing at that time, the colors might be a bit off if you shoot modern 35mm color film through this vintage lens. However, it should shoot black-and-white film just as well as any camera. We shot a roll of Kodak XX film by metering with the classic “Sunny 16” guesstimating. If you are unfamiliar with the Leica IIIC, you will need to trim the film leader to properly load the camera. One of the Leica gadgets not included is called an ABLON, which helps to trim the film properly. Genuine ones are available online but are expensive. You can find some really good cheap ones that were 3D printed. The leather case is worn and poorly engraved with an indecipherable name. Please contact us with any questions.
