Vintage Pens: Eagle Lizard Skin

In our humble opinion, the Eagle Lizard Skin is one of the most under-rated designs of the vintage pen era. It seems as if only 2nd and 3rd tier pen companies used lizard-skin designs, but they are very attractive and should have been recruited by the big leagues. Our vintage pen is fully restored with a new bulb. Not really a bulb filler or a button filler, it has a little toggle in the tail to compress the bulb and fill the pen. We find it takes 7 or 8 toggles to get a full fill. Only light wear mars the surface of the cap and barrel. No cracks. No significant brassing. A couple marks blemish the section grip. Is this a World War II pen? The 14k gold nib’s imprint boldly reads “Made in the United States of America.” We wonder if it was a touch of patriotism, as a simple USA would suffice. Our Eagle Lizard Skin writes an extra, extra-fine. We call it an accountant’s nib. 12cm capped.
