Description

Bordering on grail territory is the Montblanc 644. It is a difficult-to-find treasure from the 1950s. We size it between a modern Classique and LeGrand. Unlike those pens, it has a gold-filled slip cap. No engraving mars its cartouche, although it does have a noticeable dimple on the side of the cartouche. The person we are selling it for had it restored by Montblanc expert Osman Sumer 8 or 9 years ago. The TELESCOPING piston still works smoothly! Talk about remarkable German engineering. Notice how the cap states “Montblanc Masterpiece.” You won’t find many MB’s with English instead of the German “Meisterstuck.” You will love this vintage pen’s semi-flexible two-tone 14k gold nib. It likely started life as an extra-fine nib. Now it starts as a medium and can be gently worked into a wide line. Our Montblanc 644 features lots of light wear all over the cap and barrel. No cracks, brassing or deep scars. 13.65cm capped.
