The cutting edge of pen shopping has arrived!
Enjoy the most interactive website for vintage pens and preowned luxury pens ever created.
At pen shows, I always wear a pin that says "Ask Me Anything." Now you can ask ThePenMarket.com anything at any time of day or night in a special feature near the bottom of the home page.
You can ask it about any special features, nib sizes, filling mechanisms, price ranges and so much more.

This feature responds almost instantly with answers that it can cite from any place on our website.
Furthermore, we have developed a new pen-condition-grading system! Coin collectors have enjoyed well-defined grading scales for ages. Pen dealers have struggled to develop a similar scale for decades. To simplify this process, we split the grading into two different categories: cosmetic (caps/barrels) and nibs.
Click the "Pen Grading" button to see the 1-to-10 scale we've created to describe the condition of a pen's cap and barrel. A 10 equals pure perfection and is quite rare. Most really good pens will be in the 8 and 9 range. Moving forward we will include a numerical condition grade to each pen, in addition to our written descriptions.
Nibs are really an entirely different subject, so we've also added a special section called "Defining Nibs." This helps explain everything from point sizes to nib anatomy to feedback and so on.
Many people, especially those who are new to the hobby/passion for pens, will love our new "Buyers' Guide." This special guide offers advice for what to look for when buying a pen. It also offers ideas for best pens for beginners...best pens for everyday writing...best luxury pens for gift ideas and so much more. Moving forward we will continue growing this page with advice.
In addition to these great new features, we are building a "Glossary" and "FAQ" (Frequently Asked Questions) sections.
For those researching pens and pricing, we now offer a "Sold Pens Archive." Instead of just erasing our sold listings, we now have the space to save them. This way you can now compare and contrast photos, track changes in pricing and enjoy any of the research we did into each pen that had sold a while ago. The archive is limited to the pens currently on the site and moving forward. Sadly, it won't include the nearly 7,000 other pens we sold before moving to this site and its current format.
Naturally, we kept all the pages and features you loved from our original iterations of the business. Vintage Pens, Pre-Owned Pens, Best Bargains, Inkwells & Blotters, Pencils and Cameras. Our beloved Trading Post returns, as well.
We hope you enjoy our new website. Please feel free to reach out with any questions, requests or concerns.
Happy Writing,
Nathaniel
