Vintage Pens: Sheaffer Balance

We love Sheaffer Balance pens. They were the very pens that got us hooked on fountain pens. This is a fully restored Sheaffer Balance with some discoloration. It is the black-and-pearl design. We gave it a new ink sac, and it is ready for more writing action after nearly 100 years! You will find a few scars and a few odd little dots from a long career as a great writer. Either it was a later production model from the 1930s or it has a replacement inkfeed. Write a firm, extra-fine line with its 14k gold nib. Some people might call it a nail. We say the nib is just misunderstood. It was designed to work well with carbon paper, and that required a firm nib to work through the layers of paper. The more you write with it, the better/less dry the ink flow will be. 14.4cm capped.
